Back to basics
As I’ve said before, it’s interesting the journey that life takes you on, and how you can end up coming back to where you started and for me a lot of this is most definitely happening right now in terms of where I’ve been these past 13/14 years and where I wanted to be originally, but more recently I’ve been taking a good look at the journey I’ve taken over the past six years and come to the rather bizarre conclusion that I’ve almost returned to what I was escaping from in the first place.
April 2004 was a big milestone in my life, having decided to walk away from an industry I’d spent the previous 14 years gaining experience of all areas of the print and design industry, looking instead to expand my knowledge and my exposure with other forms of design including web, video and animation.
As I’d built up an extensive portfolio of work in the graphic design industry I thought it foolish to walk away completely and so my services in this area were still available, however in the past couple of years I’ve noticed, thanks to client trend, that my work was slowly moving back to that which I’d tried to move away from to the point where not only have I returned to the print trade as a full time graphic designer, but even more so in that I also offer the complete digital print service from start to finish.
So with that annoying revelation fresh in my mind it’s time to make yet another leap of faith and make a fresh start. Get back to what I wanted to do back in 1987, what I’d set out to do in 2004 and get Broadening Horizons and Martin Hastings back on track, with the added bonus that thanks to Horizon Studios and Adarakion I now have two other creative outlets for my work.
So is this a case of watch this space? I guess so, but I guess at the same time a shout out to anyone looking for a freelance web designer, graphic designer, games graphic designer, video editor, dvd producer and more.
